This year has been defined as the ‘Global Year about Back Pain’ by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and Pain Australia.
In keeping with the theme of the IASP, the pain management service at Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service is presenting on the “Contemporary issues in Low Back Pain” to PHN stakeholders. Our presentation will cover the latest evidence regarding the management of this very common debilitating condition followed by a real life case-study.
Learning outcomes:
- Introduce the role of medical complexity, variability, and medical uniqueness in the person with low back pain.
- Discuss the limitations of the biomedical and biopsychosocial approach in the management of the unique person with low back pain.
- Discuss the role of interdisciplinary person-centred approach to managing the unique person with low back pain – through a case-study.
- Provide examples of the clinical reasoning process in the management of the unique person with low back pain – through a case-study.
