MyMedicare
MyMedicare is a voluntary patient registration model that aims to strengthen the relationship between patients, their general practice, general practitioner (GP) and their primary care teams.
MyMedicare recognises general practices as the best place to provide care that is patient- and community-centred. General practices can register as a MyMedicare practice and patients can nominate a MyMedicare general practice as their regular or ‘home’ practice.
When a general practice and its patients register in MyMedicare, the Australian Government provides extra funding to help the practice provide targeted care based on patient needs.
MyMedicare Incentives
- General Practice in Aged Care Incentive supports regular health assessments, care plans and regular GP visits for people in residential aged care homes.
- Chronic Condition Management is linked to a patient’s registration in MyMedicare to support continuity of care for people with chronic and complex conditions.
- Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program supports general practices to bulk bill all Medicare-eligible patients. Patients do not need to be registered for MyMedicare for the practice to participate in BBPIP. New practices registering in BBPIP will be exempt from MyMedicare accreditation requirements.
-
Better Access gives Medicare benefits to eligible people, so they can access selected mental health treatment services they need wherever they live. Mental health treatment services are available from eligible:
- general practitioners (GPs)
- prescribed medical practitioners (PMPs)
- psychologists (eligible clinical and eligible registered)
- social workers and occupational therapists.
