multicultural communities

Our region’s diversity includes Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) workers, seasonal employees, new migrant families, refugee communities and international students. These groups contribute skills, culture and connection, enriching local economies and community life. At the same time, people from culturally diverse backgrounds may face barriers such as language, health literacy and navigating unfamiliar systems. CCQ partners with community organisations and providers to strengthen cultural responsiveness and ensure services are inclusive of everyone who calls our region home.

CCQ commissioned IMPACT Community Services through the PHN Multicultural Access Program to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for PALM scheme workers in Bundaberg in everyday circumstances and during disasters.

The program is delivered until 28 August 2026 through a consortium, bringing together PALM workers, health services, employers and community stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and address local needs.
