The health impacts of a changing climate and what it means for primary care

This event brings health professionals together to explore one of the defining challenges for our region: a changing climate that is reshaping community health and the way we deliver care.

Through shared learning and local insight, participants will consider how practice, partnerships and service design can build climate resilience, support communities through disaster, and promote the health co-benefits of climate action across our region.

Learning Objectives

• Recognise the direct and indirect health impacts of climate change, including on priority populations and population health
• Identify practical and achievable strategies that work towards net zero health systems, including keeping people healthy, minimising low value and harmful care, and decarbonising high-value healthcare
• Assess disaster-related risks in practice and develop practical preparedness and response plans to support safe and continuous patient care
• Apply principles of intersectoral and local collaboration in disaster preparedness and response by identifying coordinated care strategies that support continuity of patient care
