Interpreting Research for Busy Health Professionals

This is a one-day online workshop. It will provide guidance on what to look for, including strengths and limitations, in qualitative studies, cohort studies, case-control studies, randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews.

With the huge volume of papers published on any topic, and patients consulting “Doctor Google” and social media, many health professionals would like to feel more confident that they can access the best information for their clinical needs.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Evaluate the quality of cohort and case-control studies and randomised controlled trials
  • Identify, analyse and discuss strengths and weaknesses in a variety of study designs
  • Determine whether a study is applicable to your clinical context
  • Discuss whether it is appropriate to implement results from studies.
