FAB LAB

Contract Details

Part of the Resilient CARE Program 2025 grants.

The FAB LAB project supports people with an intellectual disability to build life skills, social connections and health and disaster preparedness literacy. It uses a hands-on workshop approach combined with a train-the-trainer model to empower participants and strengthen partnerships between primary healthcare and emergency services sectors.

The program delivers a series of peer-group workshops focused on:

  • Building participants’ capacity in self-care (a key priority identified through engagement and co-design).
  • Improving disaster preparedness and response confidence.
  • Strengthening protective factors and health literacy.
  • Developing skills to navigate the primary healthcare system more effectively.

Insights and learnings will be documented and shared with local healthcare practices to help embed inclusive approaches, improve care pathways, and strengthen collaboration across the primary healthcare system.
