Gympie Health Hub is transitioning to a Better Connect hub

Country to Coast Queensland (CCQ) is advising the Gympie community about changes to the Gympie Health Hub, located at 4/4 Horseshoe Bend.

From 31 October 2025, the Gympie Health Hub is transitioning to a Better Connect hub. Each, the lead agency for Better Connect, is taking over the lease from CCQ, which has supported the site for around six years.

Better Connect has operated from the hub since October 2024 and will expand services, shifting the site from co-located providers to an integrated care model delivering coordinated mental health, alcohol and other drug, and suicide prevention supports through shared intake, care planning and governance.

“This is a positive step to make it easier for people to get the right help, with warm referrals and coordinated follow-up,” said Julie Sturgess, CEO, Country to Coast Queensland. “It’s a new chapter for the building, with an expansion of connected services for the community.”

Some Gympie Health Hub services will continue operating from the new Better Connect hub, while others have moved to new local addresses or will continue to provide services to the Gympie community via telehealth. The hub will continue to be a central access point for service navigation in the region.

What stays the same

  • Support remains available close to home in Gympie: on site at the Better Connect hub, via telehealth or at new local addresses.
  • People can get free advice and local care navigation, including referral to Better Connect services, by calling Medicare Mental Health on 1800 595 212, Monday to Friday 8.30am–5pm.
  • Existing hub meeting room bookings by community groups and organisations will continue until the end of the year.
  • CCQ’s role and commitment to supporting better health and wellbeing for local communities remains. CCQ led the co-design and contracting of Better Connect through its Australian Government PHN program.

What’s changing

  • The building will be reconfigured as a Better Connect hub with planned building works and refurbishments to enhance the welcoming space.
  • Some organisations that have operated independently from the hub have relocated to new local addresses or will continue providing care via telehealth.
