CCQ’s Cultural Capability Training is a free, self-paced online learning program for primary healthcare providers across Central Queensland, Wide Bay and the Sunshine Coast.

Available through EngageCCQ, CCQ’s online learning platform.

About the modules

LOCALLY TAILORED

Culturally safe care starts with knowledge, reflection and practical action. These online modules support primary care teams to strengthen cultural capability in everyday practice, using practical scenarios, reflection activities and key concepts that can be applied in real healthcare settings.

The training is delivered online through EngageCCQ and can be completed at your own pace. Designed for GPs, nurses, practice managers and primary care staff.

What The Training Covers

The training includes three online modules:

Module 1

Foundations of cultural capability in primary care

Explore the foundations of cultural capability, including key concepts, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander diversity, historical context and the role of personal reflection in practice.

Module 2

Foundations of cultural capability in primary care

Identify different types of unconscious bias and examine how bias can affect communication, diagnosis, treatment decisions and patient experience.

Module 3

Delivering culturally safe care in the local context

Apply culturally respectful approaches in practical primary care scenarios, including local context, communication, cultural protocols and reflection on culturally safe and unsafe practice.

To complete the training, you will need access to EngageCCQ.

  • Register for EngageCCQ by filling out the online registration form below.
  • Once your access has been processed, you will receive login details by email.
  • Log in to EngageCCQ and select the Cultural Capability Training.
  • Complete the modules at your own pace.
