Queensland’s ADHD Reforms

Supporting primary care to assess and manage ADHD across the lifespan.

Explore the expansion of ADHD care with the introduction of adult GP diagnosis and treatment of ADHD patients across their lifespan. This Clinical Society event will highlight the importance of careful assessment and evidence-based management to ensure the best outcomes for patients.

This interactive evening includes CPD-accredited learning, lived experience voices, and practical strategies for clinicians, with dinner provided.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the epidemiology and impact of ADHD including effects on priority populations.
  2. Understand the presentation, diagnostic criteria and psychosocial assessment for diagnosing ADHD in children and adults.
  3. Develop an understanding of co-occurring medical conditions and the importance of a comprehensive assessment.
  4. Explore the evidence for individualised multimodal treatment including non-pharmacological interventions such as lifestyle changes, parent/family training, cognitive-behavioural interventions and ADHD coaching.
  5. Understand the pharmacokinetic profiles of short and long-acting ADHD medications, including safety considerations, monitoring, contraindications and best-practice prescribing.
  6. Discuss emerging technologies, digital tools and new research relevant to ADHD care in primary care settings.
  7. Demonstrate culturally responsive and inclusive practices to enable better care for people with ADHD from priority populations.
