Help shape youth mental health before 11 June

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is seeking community feedback on two new models of care: headspace Plus and Youth Specialist Care Centres

The new models are designed to better support young people aged 12 to 25 with higher intensity or more complex mental health needs.

Across our region, we know young people often face gaps between the support currently available and the care they need. This consultation is an opportunity for community members, families, carers, young people and service providers to influence how these services are designed.

The consultation closes 11 June 2026. We value the diverse perspectives, experiences and knowledge held across our region.

In April 2025, the Australian Government announcement included planned changes for two headspace services in the Country to Coast Queensland region:

  • headspace Maroochydore is expected to transition to a headspace Plus service, with timing to be confirmed
  • headspace Rockhampton is upgrading its space to better meet the community need, with timing to be confirmed.
