My Health Record allows residential aged care staff access to resident’s key health information.
At Parklands Roshana, Facility Manager, Deserae McGill shared her positive experience with My Health Record, highlighting “that this interconnectivity in healthcare enables improved care continuity for residents by reducing wait times in accessing information, such as test results and health histories. It also decreases the burden in administrative work, saving time and resources during emergencies.”
With support from their governance team, Parklands Roshana successfully registered and began using My Health Record. The facility promotes its use as part of their digital health transformation and encourages other aged care providers to do the same.
How My Health Record Helps Aged Care Providers:
- Access to records including immunisations, medical history, current medicines, test results, and discharge summaries, specialist letters, and Advance Care document.
- Improved care coordination and communication with healthcare providers.
- Family members or carers can apply to access and manage a My Health Record on behalf of an older person they care for, as an authorised or nominated representative.
The Australian Digital Health Agency is actively supporting residential aged care providers to connect with My Health Record. For training and support, visit MyHealth Record for Aged Care.
