Free GP training via Sunshine Coast Eating Disorders Access Trial (SCEDAT).

This activity has CPD points for RACGP / ACRRM.

Presenters:

  • Dr Nga Tran – Psychiatrist, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
  • Dr Kiera Buchanan – Founder and Director CFIH, Clinical Psychologist and Health Psychologist

Key Learnings:

  • Outline and demonstrate the screening and detection of an eating disorder in a suspected or at-risk patient.
  • Discuss strategies to effectively engage and collaborate with a patient with an eating disorder.
  • Review the assessment and process involved in medically managing a patient with an eating disorder.
  • Summarise the escalation process: when, where and how to refer your patient to hospital.
  • Identify and troubleshoot the pragmatic barriers and community myths, misconceptions and biases about eating disorders experienced in managing patients with an eating disorder.
