Queensland Health has awarded a contract to BPAC Informatics Pty to provide their eReferrals solution capability SeNT to be integrated as part of the Queensland Health Smart Referrals solution. The Smart Referrals solution is a key initiative of The Queensland Health Specialist Outpatient Strategy launched in 2016.
The BPAC eReferral solution, once integrated with Queensland Health’s Smart Referrals solution will enable faster streamlined management of referrals to and within Queensland public hospitals. For the first time, Smart Referrals will assist General Practitioners (GPs) track how their patient is progressing through the specialist outpatient referral process. Please click here for some further information on Smart Referrals.
The Smart Referrals solution will allow GPs and other authorised providers to create and submit a referral from their practice management software (Best Practice or Medical Director) or from the HealthPathways community where available. Condition specific templates will help GPs provide the required referral information depending on the specialty the patient is being referred to. Patients will benefit from reduced time taken to refer and triage referrals due to enhanced quality of referral information.
The Smart Referrals solution is due to commence deployment in GP Practices within the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service region in the first half of 2019, before being progressively implemented to GPs throughout the state.
