Suturing Course – 19/01/2024

Event description: Wound closure and suturing course cover the theoretical and practical essentials required to close and manage non-complex traumatic lacerations, punch biopsy, and surgical excision. The emphasis ison the fundamentals of gaining closure, eliminating dead space and scar minimisation working within your technical ability, scope of practice and workplace policy and procedure to provide high level patient care. The course is a combination of:

• 8 online modules, covering wound cleaning and debridement, local anaesthetic, knot tying, suturing techniques, other closure methods and post closure management.
• A one day of face-to-face skills training workshop using simulated and pig skin. The primary target group includes: nurse practitioners, primary care nurses, emergency nurses, and rural and remote nurses, medical students and Drs that have had little or no suturing experience.
