Skin tears & pressure injuries are some of the most prevalent wounds we encounter particularly when looking after an older population. Whether you are a carer or clinician, skin management is an essential part of your care management and should be a team approach!
In this workshop we will explore skin tears and why they are prevalent in older, frail skin and introduce the ISTAP classification. You will also participate in an interactive workshop looking at first aid for skin tears.
Do you know the difference between a pressure injury and incontinence associated dermatitis? This workshop will also explore pressure injuries – classification, causes and management and will identify the differences between PI’s and incontinence associated dermatitis.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At this workshop, you will:
Gain an understanding of the impact of skin tears & pressure injuries on the aged care population
Learn all about skin tear management and first aid to ensure good healing outcomes
Explore pressure injuries – identification, management & prevention
Gain an understanding of incontinence associated dermatitis, best practice & how to differentiate between IAD & pressure injuries
