A Sunshine Coast general practice, based in Buderim has been recognised with the top award for small general practices in this year’s Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL) awards.
Steve Jones, a nurse practitioner with Medicrew Buderim said their model of health care had helped them stand out among a large number of applications.
“Our model focuses on partnerships with local hospitals, ambulance crews, health services and the Primary Health Network to successfully increase GP support and decrease hospital presentations,” he said.
“Our patients really appreciate the opportunity to see both a GP and a Nurse Practitioner and feel that they are very well cared for. Patients feel safe that they are in an environment that is professional and offers expertise in care; they appreciate not having to go to hospital for non-acute medical issues,” he said.
“Our entire team is committed to providing each and every patient with the highest quality of care. We work with other key stakeholders in the community to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions,” he said.
Medicrew Buderim’s Director, Mark van Wyk said the team had made all the difference.
“It was a terrific feeling to know that our team had been recognised at the national level. We have a terrific team who go above and beyond to care for every patient and we can now call ourselves Australia’s best small general practice.”
“We are very proud of our team’s achievements and humbled at the same time to be recognised in this way,” Mr van Wyk said.
