Throughout October and November, CCQ Healthy Ageing Coordinators have been visiting residential aged care homes across our region, connecting one-on-one to discuss shared and unique interests and challenges. Key topics included:
- Digital health readiness
- Access to primary care services
- Clinical handover with Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and hospitals
A common theme during these visits has been telehealth. Many homes expressed a need for additional training on telehealth platforms.
While platforms like Teams and Skype are commonly used for specialist appointments, connecting with general practice has posed challenges.
healthdirect Video Call, the secure platform which is widely used by GPs in our region, offers comprehensive resources to guide RACH staff through the process of using Video Call for telehealth and supports staff using Visionflex telehealth carts and devices.
