On 21 February, Country to Coast, QLD CEO Julie Sturgess welcomed the announcement by Minister for Energy and Clean Economy Jobs, The Hon. Mick de Brenni and Queensland Hydro CEO Kieran Cusack of a $5M community investment package, which will also fund a partnership with CCQ to re-establish GP services in Imbil after the only clinic in town shut more than 12 months ago.

CEO Julie Sturgess commended Queensland Hydro’s approach of being a ‘good neighbour’ to current and future Imbil residents, as Queensland Hydro’s Borumba Pumped Hydro Project takes shape nearby, already generating economic and community benefits for the region.

This is a great example of the community and industry working together to make sure this town is supported. The people of Imbil spoke up about the need to restore family medical care and we are delighted to be working with Queensland Hydro to do just that. We are very close to announcing a provider and are working through the steps now to make sure the new clinic is up and running in coming months.

Our thanks also to Gympie Regional Council Mayor Glen Hartwig and Mary Valley Chamber of Commerce Inc President Janelle Parker for their support. CCQ also looks forward to working with all community partners to maximise this very welcome investment in primary health care.
