Stay up-to-date with your booster for a COVID-free Christmas

In Central Queensland, News, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay by PHN Communications

CCQ is urging all residents across the region to stay up-to-date with their COVID-19 booster, with reported COVID-19 cases on the rise and new variant Pirola active in the community. The lead-up to Christmas and busy holiday period is a critical time for everyone over 18 to consider whether they are due for a COVID-19 booster.

Currently, our region is facing alarmingly low rates of 6-month booster vaccinations, ranging between 4% to 11% of eligible residents in some local government areas. Gladstone, Banana and Central Highlands are amongst the lowest rates in the state.

Follow the updated health advice from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) and keep your residents and staff safe.

  • Individuals aged 75 or older are recommended to receive additional doses.
  • Those aged 65-74 and anyone aged 18 years and over with medical comorbidities, disability or complex health needs, should also consider a booster dose, following discussion with their health care provider.

To raise awareness of the need for boosters, Country to Coast, QLD has developed downloadable resources you can share to your social media accounts or load up to digital screens.
