My Health Record

Through the My Health Record system you can access timely information about your patients such as shared health summaries, discharge summaries, prescription and dispense records, pathology reports and diagnostic imaging reports. The key benefits of the My Health Record system are:

How to for healthcare professionals

Healthcare professionals can access patients’ health information in the My Health Record system through conformant clinical information systems or via the web-based and read-only National Provider Portal.

If your clinic uses conformant software, you will also be able to view and upload important health information about your patients, which can then be viewed by other healthcare providers involved in their care.

If your clinic does not use software that is compatible with the My Health Record system you can still view your patients important health information through the National Provider Portal.

My Health Record – a practical demonstration

These one-hour sessions are aimed at GPs, Specialists, Practice Managers, Practice Nurses and Aboriginal Health Workers interested in learning more about My Health Record and how to use it most effectively in routine practice. Using a software simulation platform, the instructor will demonstrate how to:

access your patients’ My Health Records in your software;
use filters to find documents;
view documents and overviews;
understand how to view immunisation history in My Health Record
enter access codes for patients with protected documents/records;
upload documents to My Health Record; and
ensure appropriate security and access governance mechanisms are in place.

Understanding compliance requirements for accessing My Health Record – practical tips for your practice

These one-hour sessions equip Practice/Pharmacy Managers and administrative staff with a sound knowledge of how to implement and maintain policies and procedures to govern access to the My Health Record within their organisation. Upon completion participants will be able to:

understand the legislative framework for accessing My Health Record;
create and maintain security and access policies for My Health Record;
manage My Health Record user accounts and training registers;
