In September 2023, Country to Coast, QLD introduced Primary Sense, a cutting-edge tool designed to support general practice to enhance the quality of patient care in our region. Over 180 practices have now started their Primary Sense journey - integrating this innovative solution to drive healthcare excellence.

Primary Sense is more than just a data analytics tool; it's a comprehensive solution that empowers healthcare providers with actionable insights at the point of care, streamlines clinical processes, and fosters a collaborative approach to healthcare improvement. Developed by general practitioners (GPs) for general practice, it stands as a testament to simplicity, efficiency, and effectiveness in healthcare management. By leveraging the power of data, we are paving the way for a future where every healthcare decision is informed, every practice is supported, and every patient in our community receives the highest standard of care.

What is Primary Sense?


Primary Sense is a population health management and clinical decision support tool that provides real-time clinical decision support for general practitioners at the point of care. It leverages the world-renowned Johns Hopkins University ACG® System to identify at-risk patients, making it a leading population health analytics software. Primary Sense also supports data reporting to meet general practice PIP QI compliance requirements.

 Getting started with Primary Sense


Registration

  • Currently, Primary Sense is compatible with Medical Director and Best Practice. So, for those general practices the first step is for you to complete this registration form.
  • By May 2024, Primary Sense will replace Pen CS's CAT4 and Topbar software for GP Practices in Country to Coast, QLD regions.
  • If your practice is not compatible, we will be in touch to support alternative processes for PIP-QI reporting.

Installation

Before installing Primary Sense, please take note of the following information: 

  • The Extractor is installed once on the server only.  
  • The desktop application can be installed on all workstations that have Best Practice/Medical Director running and are utilised by practice staff.  
  • The desktop installation only needs to occur once per workstation (or once onto terminal server). 
  • The desktop application will not be functional until first extract of the practice data is completed.
