Stay safe together

Vaccination is your best protection against COVID-19

COVID-19 is still active in our community. Stay up-to-date with your booster to protect yourself and your loved ones from the worst of COVID-19.

Follow health advice

The COVID-19 virus is transmitted from person to person, usually when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Transmission may occur from contaminated surfaces, so it is important to frequently wash your hands.

When should I get tested?

You should get tested for COVID-19 if:

  • You have symptoms of the illness — even if your symptoms are mild; or
  • You have been advised to do so by a health professional

Depending on how long it has been since you recovered from COVID-19, you may need to take another test if you develop new COVID-19 symptoms.

Anyone aged 5 years and over can receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

Vaccination is also recommended for children aged 6 months to under 5 years in at risk population groups. If you’re unsure if your child is at risk, speak to your healthcare professional.

You can book an appointment to get the COVID-19 vaccine through:

  • selected general practices

Vaccination offers the best protection against serious illness or death from COVID-19. Boosters are important to maintain this protection. You should get all the recommended doses for your age and individual health needs.

The latest advice from the Australian Technical Advisory Group (ATAGI) on Immunisation states that:

  • all adults can get a booster if it’s been 6 months or longer since their last COVID-19 booster or confirmed infection (whichever is most recent)
  • if you are aged 75 or older and it has been six months since receiving a COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed infection, you should get a booster dose
  • those aged 65-74 years and anyone aged 18 years and over with medical comorbidities, disability or complex health needs, should also consider a booster dose, following discussion with their health care provider
