Event Details

Could brain scanning to predict problems become the future of mental healthcare? This online webinar explains how cutting-edge neuroscience can predict whether a young person will develop a mental illness.

Using brain imaging, researchers can identify brain changes that occur before symptoms appear. Early identification opens the possibility of preventing the illness, or treating it early so that its impact is minimised for life. Future trends in healthcare will also be explored.

Webinar topics

Professor of Youth Mental Health and Neurobiology Daniel Hermens will share ground-breaking research that shows that the uniqueness of an adolescent’s ‘brain fingerprint’ can predict mental health outcomes. He will also discuss what this world-first finding could mean for the future of mental healthcare.

Futurist Dr Colin Russo will outline the current and future healthcare trends that give Australians more preemptive say in their diagnosis and treatment.

Event host

This webinar is hosted by USC’s Thompson Institute, a world-class hub for mental health research, teaching and clinical services.
