Event Details

As part of our GP common challenges in primary care education series, Brisbane North PHN
and Metro North Hospital and Health Service invite GPs to join us and our panel of experts
for an evening of education and discussion.
Care of trans, gender diverse and non-binary (TGDNB) patients is interesting and rewarding.
TGDNB people can face many challenges when accessing healthcare. Having a GP who is
gender-affirming is extremely beneficial and can help TGDNB people navigate the health
system and have their biopsychosocial health needs met.
Gender-affirming health care includes not only gender-affirming hormone therapy, but also
includes mental and physical health as well as social and community supports. GPs are
often the initial point of contact to the health care system, so providing an informed, safe
and supportive environment at the first appointment is important to achieve a positive
outcome.
Join your GP colleagues and multidisciplinary Specialists from the Metro North Gender
Services team for case-based learning regarding gender diversity and gender affirming care
of TGDNB adults.
This interactive online education evening will utilise case studies to improve GP confidence
in working with TGDNB adults, managing complex cases and referring patients to RBWH
Gender Service. GPs attending will be provided with recommendations and tips for working
with TGDNB adult patients in general practice. There will be an opportunity to engage with
our panel of experts about advice on management, referral options and support services
that may be useful for you in primary care.
