The Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service (WBHHS) wishes to reassure the community, in light of recent comments made by the Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt, regarding the New Bundaberg Hospital.

As previously publicly communicated, the New Bundaberg Hospital site will be an acute facility.

This means that the new hospital will include operating theatres, an emergency department and intensive care. The operating theatre suite will have the capability to support diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures.

WBHHS is currently considering what non acute services could be based at the existing site. Both sites will be appropriately and safely staffed.

WBHHS is committed to transparency in keeping our community informed about our services. We encourage Mr Pitt to reach out and clarify any concerns or queries he has, to ensure that the community receives accurate information.

WBHHS was not approached for comment on this issue.
