Applications open for primary health care nurse mentorship program

In Central Queensland, News, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay by PHN Communications

CCQ is partnering with the Australian Practice Nurse Association (APNA) to fund the mentorship of six (6) nurses across our region who are new to primary care practice.

Transition to Practice is a 12-month education, support and mentoring program starting September 1, 2019.

For new nurses, the program includes access to education specific to primary health care nursing, clinical and professional mentoring from an experienced primary health care nurse and ongoing support, and for experienced nurses it’s an opportunity to build leadership skills and gain professional recognition.

Expressions of interest are now open for:

  • Nurses, whether recently graduated or experienced nurses, who have transitioned into primary health care
  • Experienced primary health care nurses to be mentors

Workplaces are remunerated for their participation to cover protected time for the transitioning nurse and for mentors, remuneration is provided to complete training and work with mentees.

Applications for the Transition to Practice Program close Friday 28 June.
